Welcome From the Hive – a place where I can share a little more of the world behind Countess Bees. 🐝
If you've found your way here, you probably already know that bees are at the heart of everything I do. What began as a fascination with honeybees and beekeeping has grown into Countess Bees – my small Chester-based business inspired by the hive.
But there is so much more to beekeeping than the jar of honey you see in my hut.
Throughout the year, life inside the hive changes constantly. The seasons change, different plants come into flower, the bees alter where and how they forage, colonies grow and prepare for winter, and every honey harvest tells a slightly different story about the landscape around them.
From the Hive is where I want to share those stories.
I'll be taking you behind the scenes of my apiaries and sharing some of the things I see and learn as a beekeeper. There'll be updates from the hives, seasonal honey and forage, the fascinating world of beeswax, pollinators and the wider natural world.
You'll also find stories from Countess Bees itself – from making my beeswax candles and food wraps to markets, events, new products and the development of my Education & Outreach programme.
Some posts will be educational. Some will simply show you what's happening in the hives at a particular time of year. And occasionally, I might just share something fascinating that the bees have taught me.
One of the things I love most about beekeeping is that there is always something new to learn. Even after years of keeping bees, they still surprise me.
So whether you're a fellow beekeeper, a supporter, a customer, someone fascinated by pollinators, or you've simply wondered what really goes on inside a beehive, I hope you'll enjoy following along on the journey.
